'Colorado-born, Spanish Raised' Ah-So Wine Summer Release

Allow the folks over at Ah-So Wines to end the debate once and for all: yes, canned wine can have the same quality as bottled wine. Using only organic ingredients from their vineyards in Spain, hand picking each grape, and being one of the few canned wine producers making estate grown and canned wines, Ah-So should be on the top of everyone’s list – it’s already made Forbes’.

First and foremost, the team at Ah-So focuses their main efforts on the grape. All Ah-So wines are 100% garnacha. “Though we may have a fun story and a great design, we also know that great wine starts at the vineyard. No matter if it’s in a can or a bottle,” (Ah-So). Ah-So checks all three boxes with flying colors: fun story with a great team, classy marketing, and meticulous attention to the vine. The cans sport a paper wrapping typically found on glass bottles, bringing in that same level of elevation to an aluminum can. (Not to mention, their cans are far better for the environment, leaving a smaller carbon footprint.) In addition to the environment and the creative marketing, Ah-So also utilizes new methods of technology. “The wine is canned near an anaerobic environment with 90% less oxygen than in bottled wine, so it remains completely fresh,” (Ah-So).

In addition to the wine itself compromising absolutely nothing, the founders also found a way to give back to the community during COVID. Co-founder, Carrie Chiappetta, a local ICU nurse working COVID floors during the pandemic, as well as the two other founders, Carlos Lopez de la Lacalle and Dustin Chiappetta, are donating 10% on all 2020 profits to Nurses House.

Ah-So’s lineup currently includes white, rose, red, and their summer release, bubbles. Forbes included Ah-So in their piece, “Drink well with 20 Tempting Organic Wines.” Wine Advocate rates both the rose and the red with 88 points, noting the rose’s “fresh, clean aromas and flavors on strawberry candy.” James Suckling gave their white 90 points, claiming it to be a “fresh and fun white with pears and melon, and a lively smooth and gentle creamy palate.”

Ah-So has recognized that people don’t want to keep giving up quality when buying canned wine to take on hikes, picnics, or walks – nor should they have to. Their commitment and devotion to creating canned wine through environmentally friendly and technologically savvy methods will have even the oenophiles taking a second look.
