The Impact of Social Media Influencers on College Admissions and Enrollment Decisions

Among the many roles it plays, social media serves as a platform for influencers who wield significant influence over their followers. These influencers, often individuals with large followings, hold sway over various aspects of their followers' lives, including college admissions and enrollment decisions. For students, while influencers' experiences can be valuable, they should always supplement their research with reliable sources and prioritize their personal goals and preferences when making college decisions. By striking a balance between the influence of social media and thorough research, students can make more informed choices about their academic journey instead of slacking off or starting to go to a casino.

The Rise of Social Media Influencers

Followers of influencers trust and admire them, often considering them specialists or authorities in their respective niches. Originally, influencers predominantly focused on lifestyle, beauty, and fashion content, but over time, they have expanded into various areas, including education.

Shaping Perceptions of Universities

Social media influencers have become powerful brand ambassadors for educational institutions. They create content that showcases their experiences, campus life, and academic achievements, giving prospective students an inside look at their chosen universities. Through vlogs, campus tours, and Q&A sessions, influencers paint a vivid picture of what college life is like, presenting universities in a highly appealing light.

Their content often highlights the positive aspects of their college experience, such as extracurricular activities, events, and supportive communities, which can sway prospective students' perceptions of a university. However, it is essential to acknowledge that this curated content may not provide a comprehensive view, as influencers tend to showcase only the most appealing aspects of their lives.

The Influencer Effect on Admissions

Beyond influencing perceptions, social media influencers can impact the actual admissions process. Their testimonials and endorsements hold weight, leading potential applicants to focus on universities they may not have otherwise considered. A recommendation from a beloved influencer can motivate a student to apply to a particular institution, even if they were initially unsure about it.

On top of that, some influencers collaborate directly with universities to promote admission campaigns, open days, or scholarship opportunities. By doing so, they amplify the institutions' reach and engage with a younger, tech-savvy audience that might not have been reached through traditional marketing channels.

Influencers also contribute to shaping the conversation around the college application process. They share tips, advice, and personal anecdotes, alleviating some of the anxieties students may feel during this crucial stage. However, it is vital for students to corroborate this information with official sources and not solely rely on influencers' perspectives.

Influence on Enrollment Decisions

In addition to affecting admissions choices, social media influencers can also influence students' final enrollment decisions. By maintaining consistent communication with their followers, influencers may continue to advocate for the universities they attend. They may discuss the benefits of their chosen institutions and how they have benefited from their educational experiences.

Furthermore, influencers can serve as role models for prospective students, inspiring them to follow similar career paths or educational pursuits. Students may perceive attending the same university as their admired influencer as a way to emulate their success and accomplishments.

The Potential Drawbacks

While social media influencers can be a valuable source of information, their impact on college admissions and enrollment decisions does have potential drawbacks. The glossy and idealized portrayal of college life on social media may create unrealistic expectations for prospective students. These expectations may lead to dissatisfaction or disillusionment if the actual college experience does not match what was advertised.

Additionally, the influence of social media influencers may perpetuate a focus on prestige and popularity over other essential factors, such as academic fit, location, and program offerings.

The Negative Aspect of Unrealistic Expectations

One of the most significant concerns related to the impact of social media influencers on college admissions and enrollment decisions is the propagation of unrealistic expectations. Influencers often present a carefully curated version of their college experience, emphasizing the fun, excitement, and camaraderie while downplaying the challenges and hardships. As a result, prospective students may develop an idealized vision of college life that does not align with reality.

When students enter college with unrealistic expectations, they may struggle to adjust to the actual academic demands and social dynamics. The pressure to recreate the picture-perfect college experience showcased by influencers can lead to feelings of inadequacy and isolation when reality falls short. Such unrealistic expectations can contribute to mental health issues, academic stress, and a sense of dissatisfaction with the chosen university.

The Impact of Misinformation and Misleading Advice

Another concerning aspect of social media influencers' role in college admissions and enrollment decisions is the potential dissemination of misinformation and misleading advice. While many influencers genuinely aim to provide helpful guidance, some may not have the expertise or knowledge to offer accurate information about the admissions process, academic programs, or the overall college experience.

Students may inadvertently follow inaccurate advice and make decisions based on unreliable information. This can lead to unfortunate consequences, such as missing important application deadlines, choosing the wrong major, or not considering alternative institutions that may be better suited to their needs and interests.

Moreover, some influencers may promote universities for financial incentives or partnerships, without disclosing these arrangements transparently. This can create conflicts of interest and erode the trust between influencers and their followers. It is crucial for students to cross-verify information they receive from influencers with official sources, such as college websites and admissions offices, to ensure they are making informed decisions.

Educational institutions also need to address the potential for misinformation and establish clear communication channels with influencers to ensure that accurate and reliable information is being disseminated to prospective students. Collaborations with influencers should prioritize honesty and transparency, with a focus on presenting a balanced and accurate portrayal of college life.

What We Learned From the Small Ship Cruising Expo, Denver

The cruise industry has become one of the fastest-growing tourist sectors in recent years. Yahoo Finance reports that the cruise ship market is predicted to be worth $16.7 billion by 2031 from $8 billion in 2021. This has led to exciting innovations across cruise liners, with many companies showcasing their experiences at the annual Denver Small Ship Cruising Expo (SSCE) held this year in March.

The Expo is where cruise companies, including Crystal Cruises, Explora Journeys, and Regent Seven Seas, seasoned travelers, and enthusiastic cruisers come together to share upcoming events and experiences. If you were unable to attend this year's expo in March, here’s what we learned:

Small ships offer unique experiences

Small ships have one advantage over larger cruise ships—they can course through rivers and narrower channels. This is why some small ship cruise lines are preparing to offer unique experiences, like passing through a river for a more intimate traverse through a town.

Earlier this year, Emerald Cruises released two new itineraries in its 2024 European river collection. This includes a fifteen-day “Discover the Rivers of France and Portugal” trip, where travelers can visit and explore more inland destinations, including the Alsace Wine Route in eastern France or the Douro and Côa Valley in Portugal. With this type of trip, cruisers won’t be limited to coastline destinations.

A wider range of options for luxury expeditions

With the cruise industry seeing an increased interest in recent years, more passengers are looking for experiences above the usual cruise trip. And many vacationers are looking for luxury experiences in the countries they visit.

SSCE exhibitor Explora Luxury Cruises launched their first ship this year, and they offer bespoke luxury expeditions for their passengers. The company has wide-arching itineraries in Iceland, Greenland, India, and Africa, as well as the Mediterranean and Western Europe through their “Beyond Boundaries” and “Enchanting Explorations” expeditions. Their “Beyond Boundaries” expeditions will give passengers the opportunity to have once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as exploring polar mountain peaks and deep ocean trenches, while their “Enchanting Explorations” are expeditions for small groups that want to pursue unique experiences. For example, the small groups can explore the Mykonos coastline or seek solace in the Sistine Chapel after it’s closed to the public. As Explora demonstrated at the SSCE, cruise vacations are becoming much more tailored experiences for those looking for some adventure alongside their relaxation.

Expeditions targeted toward food lovers

The off-season is typically slow for cruise lines, as few travelers take expeditions due to unfavorable weather conditions and other factors.

Atlas Ocean Voyages plans to change this by appealing to foodies during the off-season. They decided to create an expedition focused on food in the Mediterranean, so guests could continue to explore through food despite the cooler temperatures. Their Epicurean Expeditions will feature guest chefs who will give cooking demos and get into friendly competitions with the staff, giving guests a more immersive Mediterranean cruise experience.

What to expect from the SSCE in the future

Because of what we’ve discussed above, you may be looking forward to the upcoming SSCEs. If you'd like a taste of the future, here are some of the things you might expect to see.

Escalon Times reveals that small-ship luxury cruises are increasing in demand, as these are more spacious and provide better service. That means developments from existing exhibitors such as Explora Luxury Cruises and Emerald Cruises. Some recent advancements from these brands in this vein include the Explora I, a smaller yet still luxury line of ships that still accommodates a record number of ocean residences for discerning travelers, and Emerald Cruises, expanding their itineraries to more European rivers in the near future.

Another thing to look forward to is more zero-emission trips, especially for eco-conscious travelers. SSCE exhibitor Hurtigruten plans to utilize AI to monitor cruises’ energy and water consumption and sails with solar panels, so expect more sustainable travels to the Norwegian fjords and Antarctica.

Expos give you insight into upcoming events and activities regarding your favorite pastimes or hobbies. If you are interested in travel, you will also enjoy

Flight to Luxury—a showcase of Denver’s elite jets, exotic cars, and live entertainment. Like the SSCE, it is a great place to learn about the latest travel trends. For similar articles, keep browsing through Ultra5280.

Red Bull Terminal Takeover Release Team Edits and Open Voting for 2023 Competition

Last month, the 303 Boards skate team traveled to New Orleans to skate and film in an airport-terminal-turned-epic-skate-park, an event called Red Bull Terminal Takeover. The team had their skate park dreams come true as they filmed throughout the terminal on a course that seemed straight out of a video game. Now, their final edit is being put to a public vote until Friday, June 2nd against 9 other teams from around the country and a chance to win $5,000 to a local charity of their choice. You can watch 303 Boards’ edit here.

Back in April, a record 10 teams of skaters from all over the country took over the abandoned terminal at Louis Armstrong Airport for the third iteration of Red Bull Terminal Takeover. The teams took turns hitting every feature imaginable in the old terminal while filming their sessions. After countless hours and edits, the teams have posted their video clips and the fan vote is open now through Friday, June 2.

Teams from New Orleans, Birmingham, Nashville, Pensacola, Tupelo, Philadelphia, Houston, Tarpon Springs, Denver, and defending champs Baton Rouge will compete for votes over the next two weeks. The winning crew will receive a $5,000 prize that they can put toward a local organization of their choice.

The Return Of Casa Bonita

With mere days away from the opening of the most anticipated restaurant in the Denver area, Casa Bonita is putting the finishing touches on what is to become the premiere tourist destination in the Mile High. After extensive renovations owners Trey Parker and Matt Stone are set to unveil what can only be described as “The Disneyland of Mexican Restaurants” the quote made famous by the South Park (S3/E11 2003) episode. We had a chance to take a sneak peak before it opens its doors to the public, and while somethings remain nostalgic improvements have been made to a majority of the restaraurant with a huge emphasis on efficiency, With over 4,000 guests a day expected to come through the doors, everything from a new kitchen built out to line management will make it one of the most seamless entertainment choices in our city. New owners didn’t spare no expense as they wanted to keep as much as the historic element of the venue while improving its outdated amenities.

We got a tour of the newly built kitchen which will be responsible for feeding the masses, a window in which fresh made tortillas will capture the customers attention as they wait in line.

All Aboard With Red Bull: Adam Perkowski Bar Manager at Temple Nightclub

Adam Perkowski, one of the lucky few industry folks who got to enjoy a day at Winter Park courtesy of Red Bull (Photo Credit: Robert Castro)

Denver has some of the hardest working industry people in the world. From waiters and hostesses, to bartenders and more. A day off is an absolute luxury to some of these people. Luckily for them Red Bull treated a few lucky individuals to an all out amazing day off at Winter Park Resort. All Aboard consisted of an all expenses day on the slopes including a ride on the Winter Park Express to and from the resort. An all out day on the slopes with complimentary lunch and finally a post ski/snowboard Apres party with even more food and delicious cocktails to end their epic day. A perfect way to reward some of the city’s hardest working industry folks.

One of the those lucky ones chosen was Adam Perkowski who is the bar manager at Temple Nightclub.  We had a chance to catch up with Adam for a Q&A before he hit the slopes.

What’s your name and where are you from?

My name is Adam Perkowski and I Am from Denver, CO.

How long have you been bartending?

I’ve been bartending 7 years but currently I’ve been the bar manager of Temple Nightclub for the last 3 years.

What’s the funnest aspect of your job?

The funnest part of my job is the people. I love working in a place that brings all sorts of people together to have a fun night of dancing, letting go, and escaping reality for a little. Not to mention the music is fire.

Adam Perkowski (Photo Credit: Chayce Hay-Eldon)

What advice would you give to somebody starting off or wanting to become a bartender?

As far as advice I’d give anyone on doing anything is to really want it and show up with a positive attitude. Anyone can teach you a job, but no one can teach you the way you apply yourself to it.

What’s the craziest story you have encountered as a bartender?

Oh man this is a good one. I’ve seen an 85 year old woman take a body shot off of a hot bro for her birthday. I’ve seen someone sign their marriage certificate on our bar because that’s where they met. I’ve seen someone slowly roller skate towards a garage door to catch their balance only to face plant. The stories never stop and they’re usually full of fun and laughs.

What are looking forward to today?

Today I’m most looking forward to spending the day with a bunch of fam from the industry, having a fun day off together, getting to know each other better, and being a rowdy a** mess together. Thank you Red Bull for creating a fun event for all of us!

Red Bull Cascade, a New Freeski Contest, Announced for April 21st - 22nd in Winter Park, Colorado

Freeski aficionados rejoice.

Red Bull and freeski legend Bobby Brown are excited to announce the first Red Bull Cascade, a freeski competition designed to challenge every discipline of skier. The invitational will bring the world’s top skiers together to create their best top-to-bottom line on a unique course at Winter Park Ski Resort. One men’s and women’s athlete will be crowned the champion of Red Bull Cascade in a bracket-style contest.

“There’s a gap in today’s ski competitions, and athletes are getting creative to progress our sport forward,” said Red Bull athlete Bobby Brown. “After years of concepting this contest, I’m proud to bring this event to life, refresh the competition circuit and define the next chapter of freeski.”

From April 21st - April 22nd, the skiers will put together their best top-to-bottom run on a course designed by Bobby and a team of the world’s best park builders. The two-mile course will be held on Winter Park’s Vasquez Ridge incorporating natural elements alongside man made jumps, hips and rails. Overall, the course will challenge every discipline of skier, from Olympians to backcountry pros.

“Building this course on Winter Park Resort’s Vasquez Ridge is an ode to my home state of Colorado.  Winter Park maintains a ‘rootsy’  feel that skiers gravitate towards, and there aren’t many places that we’d be able to build a course like this that incorporates such natural features,” said Brown.

A panel of judges will watch each run in real-time to determine the advancing athlete in a sudden elimination format. Only one male and one female athlete will come up on top of Red Bull Cascade.

·         Thursday, April 20th: Practice Day | Wednesday is the first practice day, designed to be a jam session so that all athletes can test the features of the course and dial-in their line. Course closed to the public.

·         Friday, April 21st: Men’s Round 1 | Thursday will begin the Men’s Bracket Round 1. About six athletes will move on to finals. Spectators are welcome to watch Round 1 from specific viewing areas.

·         Saturday, April 22nd: Men’s and Women’s Finals Rounds | Saturday will see the remaining men’s and women’s athletes duel it out in semi and final rounds. One winner from each division will be crowned the winner at the Winter Park Ski Resort base village. Spectators are welcome to watch the final rounds from specific viewing areas.

"Opening Day" Places To Celebrate In Denver

One of our favorite days in the Mile High City is Opening Day. Although we haven’t had much to cheer from our hometown Colorado Rockies, we do get to celebrate a few of our favorite restaurants and their special offerings for this celebratory day. Be sure to stop in before, during and after the game to enjoy some of these amazing drinks and food pairings.

Catch the opening day action at Federales (2901 Larimer St), just a 20-minute walk from Coors Field, where the RiNo bar & restaurant is celebrating with a special extended happy hour from 11am - 7pm: special pricing on margaritas, taquitos, nachos, queso and guac; plus $15 beer buckets + $5 Coors Light drafts. You can catch the game on one of the of the 14 wide screen TVs as the Rockies take on the Nationals.

Stop in to 5280 Burger Bar at the Pavilions ahead of the game for some creative takes on stadium nachos like the Ahi Nachos, togarashi dusted ahi tossed in sesame soy with a gingered carrot-cucumber relish on wonton chips; or dig into the Stadium Nachos with 5280’s housemade chips and queso, slow-roasted pulled pork, fresh pico de gallo and house made roasted corn and black bean salsa. Don’t miss the restaurant’s own 5280 Lager to round out your visit.

Drop into Barcelona Wine Bar after the game to celebrate the win (or ignore the loss). It’s a quick walk from the stadium to unwind with friends after the game and enjoy elevated post-game snacks like the spring-forward Harissa Carrots with pistachio pesto, the Chicken Thigh with aji verdi or the Albondigas, spiced meatballs in jamon-tomato sauce and wash it down with a Biodynamic-calendar-inspired Gintonic or unwind with a Bees & Bays (no ABV) cocktail.

Score twists on your ballpark favorites at EDGE Restaurant and EDGE Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver. The swanky bar offers fun takes like the Chicharrones with espelette, lime and salt; Beer Battered Onion Rings with black ‘n’ blue EDGE spice plus Cholula aioli; Bougie Wings with truffle Fresno hot sauce, pickles, and labneh ranch; and the housemade Warm Pretzel Rolls with charcuterie, beer cheese, housemade apricot mustard, grilled fennel sausage and cornichons. Bonus: valet park your car at the hotel and a visit to EDGE nabs you a discounted rate for the evening.

Grab a pre-game sandwich and snacks to-go from Little Finch downtown Denver and make the 10-minute walk to the stadium. Start with a fresh-pressed juice or craft coffee like the Cafe Cajeta to fuel up for the game along with the Curry Chicken Croissant sandwich with herb roasted chicken breast, red onions, celery, golden raisins and curry sauce; or the Southwest Flatbread for on-the-go eats. Don’t forget to grab the white chocolate dipped twinkie on your way out for that seventh-inning stretch snack.

If you can’t make it to the ballpark, a visit to Stanley Marketplace (2501 Dallas St, Aurora) covers all the bases on Opening Day.You’ll feel like you’re at the ballpark at Stanley Beer Hall when you nosh on Southwest Bison Brat or the Warm Pretzel Bites as you catch the game on their multiple big-screen TVs, and there’s no waiting in line at the 51 self-pour taps featuring local beers, wines, cocktails and more.

Follow it up with a visit to Cheluna Brewing Co., for a craft cerveza from the state’s first Latinx-owned brewery, and finally drop by Churreria de Madrid for authentic Spanish churros, a sweet handheld game day snack.

Just down the street from Coors Field, Three Saints Revival offers new-for-Spring dishes for game-goers like the Pork Cheek Casuela with hazelnut picatta and pickled raisins, Risotto with sweet peas and asparagus and the Spicy Greens with chistorro sausage and orange in a mushroom broth. Finally, trade your baseball beer for refreshing cocktails like the bright and fresh Spice Trade or the adventurous and tropical clarified punch, Monarch of the Sea.

Head out of downtown after the game to Cantina Loca for tacos and tequila drinks from James Beard Award nominee Dana Rodriguez. Try a variety of the agave cocktails, from classic or frozen margaritas to the Rosita, made with Rodriguez’s Doña Loca reposado tequila, sweet & dry vermouth, amaro and bitters, and don’t miss building your own Barbacoa, Carne Asada or Pollo Adobado tacos.

9 Places To Eat Healthy in 2023

Like us, many of you probably decided to eat healthier in 2023. With a large array of different options to choose from these 9 restaurants have taken your typical salad to a whole new level. Whether you're looking for a latin inspired salad to your traditional green salad you will find a dish to your choosing. Check out the following restaurant offerings from some of our favorite spots.

Three Saints Revival

In LoDo, Three Saints Revival (1801 Wewatta Street) is offering up two vibrant salads this winter. Warm Brussel Sprouts star in the first seasonal salad. The veggie comes together with egg, bacon and just the right amount of mustard for a delicious starter. Winter citrus takes the spotlight in the Winter Orange Salad. Slices of bright, Blood Orange are topped with a dressing of olive, mint and sage oil for a simple flavor combination that’ll keep you cooking back for more.

Cantina Loca

At James Beard Outstanding Chef Semifinalist Dana Rodriguez’s Cantina Loca (2890 Zuni Street), the Seasonal Salad is a flavor-packed way to start the meal. Between the lima beans, arugula and chimichurri, the dish offers a spectrum of satisfying greens - all topped with shaved parmesan for that perfect finishing touch.

Guapo Taco

The Ranchero Ensalada at Guapo Taco (Colorado Mills, Lakewood) is the ideal southwestern salad. Greens are topped with perfectly cooked skirt steak, avocado, roasted tomatillos, Tajin spiced pepitas, roasted corn and black bean salsa, asadero, tequila lime-cilantro vinaigrette to create layer after layer of flavor. Stop in to power up before hitting the mall or to enjoy while you take inventory of the day’s finds.

5280 Burger Bar

Salads may not be the first dishes that come to mind when you think of 5280 Burger Bar (Pavilions in Denver and 4301 Main Street, Westminster), but don’t perhaps they should be. The Power Greens salad, for example, is filled with superfoods like kale, cabbage, shaved brussel sprouts, arugula, carrots, roasted pepitas and sunflower seeds topped with a refreshing house-made orange ginger vinaigrette.

Barcelona Wine Bar

Radicchio is the winter green you didn’t know you needed with the crunch, flavor and texture to pop a salad to star level in the colder months. The simply named Radicchio Salad at RiNo’s Barcelona Wine Bar (2900 Larimer) satisfies a winter craving for crunch and a Mediterranean twist with radicchio, dates, walnuts, a pungent blue Valdeón cheese and sherry vinaigrette. Pair this salad with a selection of winter whites from the extensive wine lists or an exploratory flight - we like the “Bio Curious” for additional flavors.

Little Finch

Executive Chef/Owner Mary Nguyen at Little Finch in the LoDo neighborhood at Blake & 16th was inspired by the all-day cafes and bistros dotting the European countryside and created  several rotating daily salads for the new concept including the Salad Francaise, hearty and satisfying for the winter with shaved shaved carrot, fresh parsley, tangy dijon and notes of cumin throughout. Enjoy this salad solo or pair with a cup of the soup of the day and always served with a fresh baguette.

Federales

The RiNo taco & tequila concept Federales (2901 Larimer) serves up a Southwest Chicken Salad for a break from tacos that’s still substantial enough to hit the spot for lunch or dinner.  Over a bed of romaine, the hearty trio of avocado, black beans and chicken creates a filling base of protein & fiber while the popular blend of pico, cotija cheese, chipotle ranch keeps this dish crisp and refreshing. Garnished with a sprinkle of cilantro and a handful of crunchy tortilla strips, the fan-favorite plate earns its spot as a staple on the menu. Compliment with a craft cocktail like the frozen tequila rose or Jalapeño Cooler for a memorable meal.

Stanley Marketplace

Reclaimed airplane factory hangar-turned-market hall Stanley Marketplace offers a several options for winter salads on repeat: favorites include Elita Specialty Market & Kitchen where you can find the Elita Quinoa Bowl, satisfying Middle Eastern-meets-Latin flavors with garlic-herbed quinoa, cabbage, Israeli  salad, black beans, pepitas, avocado, queso fresco, and salsa tatemada; the Green Goddess Bowl at Chook Charcoal Chicken layered with hearty cauliflower rice, green beans, and roasted chickpeas, plus avocado, broccoli, roasted red peppers, pistachios and green goddess dressing; and the roasted beet salad at Stanley Beer Hall with earthy spinach, vibrant beets, avocado, red onion, and cucumber, finished with goat cheese, toasted pepitas and coriander balsamic.

EDGE Restaurant & EDGE Bar at the Four Seasons

A lunchtime visit to chic downtown spot EDGE Restaurant and EDGE Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Denver (1111 14th St) on a winter’s day often means elevated steaks and hearty sandwiches; but those looking for lighter fare will relish the simple elegance of the Seafood Cobb Salad with a trio of seafood - lobster, crab, and shrimp - finished with traditional egg, tomato, and avocado. House made basil-ranch dressing plus a side of focaccia rounds out this satisfying bowl to beat the winter blues.

Party Without A Hangover, Denver Spots For Dry January

For many the month of January is a chance to partake in “Dry January”, while many options are limited, some of Denver’s finest restaurants and bars are offering some low/no ABV cocktails to indulge. These cocktails are creative concoctions available now (and possibly after January) and will not make you feel left out.

Bar teams across our city have been developing creative, interesting mocktail programs to live on menus in January – and year-round - so that those who are (quietly, or not-so-quietly) looking for ways to manage alcohol intake don’t feel left out of celebrations.

Bees & Bays: Barcelona Wine Bar

Barcelona Wine Bar is known for their eclectic wine lists but in response to growing requests for non-ABV drinking, they have the incredibly popular Bees & Bays, the team’s first No ABV cocktail and a sweet, spicy and citrusy sipper with lime, salted honey syrup and warming cardamom. Tumbled with ice and topped with sparkling water, it’s garnished with torched smoky bay leaves. No lack of complexity, and no ABV.

The Rehydrator: Bellota

The Rehydrator from Bellota (The Source in Denver and 4580 N. Broadway in Boulder) is created with aloe vera juice, cranberry, lime, agave and housemade grenadine. The gorgeous cranberry-hued drink is naturally frothy, not too sweet and has a nice tart finish.

At Three Saints Revival they have another creative bar program, they’re taking a page from the trend book and offering two “Spirit Free & Full of Flavor” drinks that are complex alternatives to traditional boozy cocktails. The 24 Carrot Gold is made with carrot, ginger, cinnamon syrup, blood orange and nutmeg for seasonal spice while the Steep Dreams is made with muddled blackberries + rosemary, chamomile + lavender, cardamom syrup, lemon juice and aquafaba for a creamy finish. Delightful sips for spirit-free fun.

On elf the many tasty cocktails at Edge Restaurant and Bar.

At EDGE Restaurant and Bar  at Four Seasons Hotel Denver, the put together The Dragon’s Tonic with blueberries, lemon and tarragon and they also have the Fire on the Mountain with grapefruit, basil and lime. The trend of low/no ABV cocktails is here to stay, and bar manager Scott Larson makes these NA drinks so guests can indulge, celebrate, be part of the party and enjoy healthy sips with flavors that mean you won’t miss the booze. Such creativity in that bar program!

Black Friday – take a dining break from the shopping craze:

  • Spending the biggest shopping day of the year downtown requires a beer and a big, juicy burger. Find both at 5280 Burger Bar in the Pavilions on the 16th Street Mall. There is no better combination than the Perfect Burger topped with gruyére cheese, bacon onion jam, pickled red onions and the house-made roasted garlic aioli and a cold draft beer.

  • Leaving the mall is not required to find a delicious meal on Black Friday. Guapo Taco opened in Colorado Mills (Lakewood) just last month and the taqueria is already the talk of the town. Whether you’re shopping solo or with a group, Guapo Taco serves up tacos from traditional to unconventional that are great for fueling up. Start with the crowd-favorite Corn Ribs - charred perfectly and topped with a delicious blend of Mexican spices - before digging into a plate of the Lamb Birria tacos, paired with the braising liquid for a dunkable dish.

  • Stay out of the fray altogether by shopping and dining in Denver’s River North neighborhood this holiday. With fun boutiques spread out in the neighborhood, there’s something for everyone, and you can leave the food to Dana Rodriguez. The James Beard Award finalist’s restaurants Super Mega Bien and Work & Class make up one of the most craveable corners in Denver at 25th and Larimer Streets. Find exactly what you’re looking for, whether that’s classic Red Wine Braised Short Rib with a side of Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese at Work and Class or a more spontaneous evening, grabbing whatever catches your eye on the passing Dim Sum carts at Super Mega Bien. Don’t let the Ropa Vieja made with Cuban style slow braised beef with jasmine rice, plantains and olive tapenade, or the addictive corn and cheese Arepas de Queso with pepita pesto and achiote crema pass you by.
